About.Peter Kennard was born in 1949 in London and creates extreme political art out of photomontage. Aside from his art his career he is also a Professor of Political Art at the Royal College of Art. Formally, Kennard was a painter but then turned to photomontage to express his political views whilst visualising his participation in the anti-Vietnam War movement. His most infamous images are from the Campaign for Nuclear Disbarment during 1970-80s and has several works in the public collections in a few major museums as well as the Art Council of England.
Kennard's work, although explicit at times, broadcast political events from around the World but mostly UK coverage. In an interview, Peter told Socialist Worker, “Political art by itself does not change anything. I’ve always considered myself to be the ‘visual arm’ of different campaigns and protest groups. You can see that those groups certainly use it if you look around at this exhibition.”
