About.Santos knew that drawing and painting was what she wanted to do since a young age. She studied and graduated in Fine Arts from University of Salamanca, her speciality in Drawing and Graphic Design from 2003 till 2008. She later then studied Advertising Creativity and Web Design in Madrid. After her studies, she knew that portraits, figurative, animals and nature was what she enjoyed capturing most - even adding some fantasy elements. She uses traditional media to create her drawings/paints; open to exploring new techniques and often mixing media within one drawing/painting, experimenting new combination in each. Santos has used digital means n her works a few times but almost always sticks to traditional practice, enjoying the process the far more and producing a far more organic body of creations.

Thoughts & Plan...I love how Ana captures peoples faces, their expressions are often soft and calm and with the use of mixed media each painting has a uniqueness and makes them all the more appealing to me. I also like how there are also some illustrative elements incorporated into her work such as fauna, animals and doodles. I especially like her compositions, some portraits only painting one part of the face or merging two images to create a double exposure effect; the colours making her work standing out even more.
With my FMP, I really want to celebrate my family and friends, capturing them all as unique individuals whilst telling their stories in what they have experienced/endured. I really want to take inspiration from Santos' style of work as I think it'll help me both capturing my loved ones but also illustrate their answers from my interviews. To do this, I will experiment with different mediums whilst mixing and matching to create vibrant and bold pieces. |
