I have touched on Egon Schiele in Assignment 1 when looking at his figurative drawings. I really love his style and think that I could try out drawing portraits in his style, to push and characterise figures almost. With my subject matter needing to be taken seriously, I do not want the message to be misinterpreted as characterising Asian people as apart of the problem. Asian people are constantly being seen as racial stereotypes stemming from the Yellow Peril, villainizing and overall degrading how Asian people are received.
As Schiele is a historical figure in art, I wanted to practice some figurative drawings in his style but using Zhaohe's ideology of capturing people in their sorrow and hardships. |
